Up and Down the River: Film Screening & Annual Meeting
The Society of the Founders of Norwich and the Leffingwell House Museum, in partnership with Otis Library, are delighted to present a pre-screening of the Mohegan Revolutionary War film ‘Up and Down the River’ at their 124th Annual Meeting on Wed., June 4 at 5:30 pm in the Community Room
A welcome and review of the 2024-25 year by President Dave Phillips will be followed by the Mohegan Revolutionary Film “Up and Down the River,” produced for America at 250. The film highlights the challenges of their Mohegan ancestors in the Revolutionary Era, as well as honoring Samuel Ashbow Jr., who was the first Native American soldier to die at the Battle of Bunker Hill, fighting for America. The Leffingwell House Museum had the honor of being part of the filming of some of the scenes in this film.
This meeting and presentation are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The Society of the Founders of Norwich, CT, has preserved and shared Norwich's history since 1901. This event is brought to you by a collaboration between the Otis Library and the Founders of Norwich/Leffingwell House Museum.
