Leslie Woods draws on her love of language, music and international cultures to bring magic to her picture books. Born in her beloved Costa Rica, she spent many childhood summers there on her grandfather's coffee farm, where she acquired the Spanish language. She has also traveled the world in a variety of occupations, including HBO, and the Miss Universe Pageant, as well as being an on-air newscaster/voice-over artist. She also volunteered as a translator for mission trips to Honduras.
While her children were young, she taught Kindermusik for fifteen years, and then went on to teach Spanish and French to middle school students for sixteen years.
